Translation Notes
Scholarly Refinements of the Edified Edition (EDE)
Our Scholarly Approach
Greek-First Review
Every verse of the New Testament has been reviewed against the original Greek manuscripts (Textus Receptus) to ensure the restoration of original meaning while maintaining readability. This is not just a revision of the KJV, but a scholarly restoration into plain, modern British English.
Hebrew-First Restoration
For the Old Testament, the Edified Edition prioritizes the Masoretic Text while restoring key linguistic nuances that are often lost or obscured in traditional translations. We aim for 'Divine Accuracy'—ensuring that every word reflects the weight and intent of the original Hebrew.
The 'Red Letter' Sweep
All spoken words of Jesus Christ are formatted in red to denote their supreme authority. This sweep was performed with meticulous care to ensure consistency across the four Gospels and the first chapter of Revelation.
Chapter Summaries (Verse 0)
Every chapter begins with a high-fidelity summary (Verse 0) that provides theological and historical context. This helps the reader grasp the larger narrative arc before diving into the specific verses.
Modernisation Standards
We have systematically removed archaisms such as 'thou', 'thee', 'hath', and 'doth', replacing them with modern equivalents ('you', 'has', 'does'). This ensures the sacred text is perfectly clear to the contemporary 21st-century reader without sacrificing reverence.
